July is National Parks and Recreation Month, making local and state parks the perfect setting to observe Independence Day this year! But, keep in mind, safety is an important aspect of any celebration. According to the Boston Globe, crime rates tend to increase on the 4th of July. So while most are waiting for nightfall (& its accompanying fireworks), it’s important to choose well-lit areas for tailgating and other patriotic events. Proper lighting will help increase the safety of your family, friends, pets, and vehicles.

When choosing the perfect cookout spot, look for areas with fixtures such as:

  •         LED bollards, which offer pathway / edge lighting.
  •         Dusk to dawn operated security, like our E-DD1 Series.
  •         LED goosenecks for accent lighting.
  •         Area lights that will illuminate the path to your car and its parking space.

Did you know? The 4th of July is also regarded as the most dangerous driving day of the year. To reduce your risk of accident and injury, be sure to park in highly illuminated areas with uniform beam spread and low glare. Check out our infographic on parking lot safety for more information!

We hope you have a safe and happy 4th!
