What’s the Difference Between Wet and Damp Locations?

“Suitable for damp locations” means fixtures are approved for areas that are regularly in contact with moisture and condensation. Protected from precipitation and storms, they’re able to sustain limited amounts of moisture, instead of direct exposure to water.

“Suitable for wet locations” means that fixtures can withstand direct contact with water, whether it’s anything from a slow drip to a strong surge. In other words, they're fully functional in outdoor areas that are exposed to the elements.

What are canopy lights?

LED canopy lights for gas stations, loading docks, and underpasses help increase security in outdoor areas. They’re typically available in square and round shapes, offering heightened visibility to anyone underneath them. Some canopy lights are IP-rated, meaning dust and water cannot penetrate them.

Do outdoor canopy lights require electricity?

Yes. But because our outdoor canopy lights are LED, they’ll take up much less electricity than traditional lighting. Outdoor lights usually have underground wiring to keep cables safe and hidden from view.

How do you install outdoor canopy lights?

Answer applies to our C-CP-C-SQ Series C-Lite LED Canopy Light.

  • Canopies are best mounted by drilling through the back of the fixture, securing it to the mounting surface using the appropriate mounting hardware for the surface.

  • Route the incoming power and ground leads through the hole in the back of the fixture and through the opening on the side of the LED mounting pad.

  • Complete the wiring to the incoming power and ground.

  • Replace the reflector and lens diffuser.
