Reduced by Half: 16-inch Low Bays Replace Linear Fluorescents
Lighting large indoor spaces can be tricky. On the one hand is the need for fixtures – like traditional fluorescents - that provide bright light. On the other hand is how much it costs to operate those lights. 16-inch low bay fixtures offered by e-conolight that feature the quartz option can be a better choice.
Mario, an e-conolight customer in Pittsburgh, PA, reduced his energy costs in a large, indoor arena when he replaced aging T12 linear fluorescents with 400W PSMH 16-inch low bay fixtures. His original lighting scheme consisted of 25 of the T12 fixtures, but he installed only 12 of the low bays. The result was brighter light.
“They are bright, and light up real nice,” he wrote on the e-conolight website.
E-conolight offers 16-inch low bay fixtures that feature a sturdy die-cast aluminum housing, rugged 4kv porcelain open-rated socket, 16-inch spun white aluminum reflector, is UL listed for damp locations and includes a one-year warranty. Additionally, the low bay meets 2005 NEC code.
Because he chose the quartz option with a 100W quartz lamp, Mario’s lights will illuminate immediately until the primary lamp comes up to full brightness. In case of a power surge or outage, the quartz lamp is a nice feature because the main lamp has to cool completely before it can re-strike after power is restored.
“The quartz re-strike comes in handy if the power goes out at night,” he confirmed.
